weekly wrapup – 10.11.09

40daysyouthgraphic1WE’RE Back!  figured it’s been almost 21 weeks since we last we’re together as a big group. much has happened well…it was great to finally be back in the groove.  we usually do a later launch because of the crazy fair schedules. we waited an additional week so we could join our big church folks as our campus steps off in spiritual growth campaign entitled 40 days of love.   there’s  a lot of excitement since we announced this effort because this campaign is directed at the whole church…from children to students to adults with everyone walking together in a new understanding of an very old idea: LOVE.

Lesson Topic:  LOVE MATTERS MOST Week 1 -Hagg and I team taught with some fun drama in the middle from two “honey buns” (gotta be in the room to understand the joke) jordan lance and parker selbyDSCN0058

the take aways for the evening were 3 simple poinst:  probably the most memberable moment came when hagg shared about how his mother’s recent cancer focused his attention on making time for what was important.  his honesty and vulnerablity rocked our evening.  good stuff.

  • make love your highest goal
  • show love through time.
  • start loving now.

Don’t make excuses.  Start today.    Ephesians 5:16 “Make the most of every opportunity for doing good.”.

it was a great start…and we end the night with a great ending: ice cream.  one of our 6th graders brought his favorite topping – cheerios…must admit with caramel…the make an amazing topping on ice cream.  we’re off.   see ya later this week at the football field for FoF09!  love the creative “teaser” fof09shirt the students are wearing to school the next couple of days.   hope folks will ask “what up with the backwards letters?”  click on the image for more details!  if you’re close by…join us wed @ 7pm. Attendance: above average.  great start to the year.  Music: venartion has improved its sound.  lots of gigs this summer has helped them take their talent to a new level.  good thing…their first ep is out.  Volunteer Involvement: excellent.  it was fun to start the night by introducing  our amazing adult leaders and having each one share “the why” of involvement.  very good stuff.  student involvement: was great.  the whole nite was just a huge success.  did i mentioned we downed a lot of ice cream.  i figured our students ate almost twice as much per person as we did for the chip richter concert a few weeks ago.
