snowcamp 09

taking a moment right in the middle of snowcamp 09 to update. though there isn’t much snow…it did flurry a little this morning we decided to bless the campers with some time at the tubing slope at snowtrails. we probably made 29 trips down the hill and the best ones were when we join our fun together into a huge train. in fact we learn the longer the train the faster and farther we would go. the longest train was 24 tubes strong. much fun.

weekly wrapup 1.11.09 – a new year!

Lesson Topic: FUN/FELLOWSHIP- SLED DOG NITE!
Attendance: Excellent -above average.
‘Fun’ Factor: Excellent – we had some gender wars with an a igloo building contest and a tug-of-war. of course for the igloo the guys were all about quickness…and the gals were all about function and form.
Volunteer Involvement: Excellent – above average.
we called an “audible” this weekend and changed up the plan. we made the call late saturday to have some fun outside(not that we wouldn’t have had fun at the church!) but we wanted to take advantage of the fresh snow. i was impressed that the communication channels worked so well…between a announcement during the services and through txt signal (are you signed up?…link in the right margin —>)facebook and our new on-line forum seemed to crank the numbers.

we headed out to the edmondson compound and spent a couple of hours just having fun. we had a great group of adult leaders…a few new ones showed up too! lots of visitors. sandie stanton cleared out the warm garage when she announced that the youth guy (me) was trying his hand (or legs) at snowboarding. it wasn’t a pretty showing…but much fun.
