Kicked off the night with another of mrs. brown’s amazing games…what a racquet.

We were on week two of our series Don’t Keep Your Friends in the Dark. This week the theme was Extend an Invitation – How can you let their friends know they desperately want them to meet Jesus—without it being awkward?

We used the biblical example of Matthew to encourage and inspire.   Matthew was one of the first disciples chosen by Jesus, and after responding to Jesus’ call, he turned around and invited a whole bunch of friends to his house for a banquet with Jesus.

We shared that one of the best ideas to help friends learn more about Jesus is to invite them to an appropriate setting within EVO where they will feel welcome and accepted. Everyone loves being invited to fun, exciting places. Matthew understood this idea and created an opportunity to introduce his friends to Jesus.  During small groups we talked about…

• ideas for making EVO a friendlier place for non-believing friends
• making our homes a place where our friends could hang out and interact with some friends who follow Jesus
• How parents can support efforts to have a positive influence on friends?

we used this amazing video to close out the evening…as a reminder that we shouldn’t wait until things are “picture perfect” but rather we should risk  inviting others to join us in our journey of faith.
